Romantic Baboy

Have you heard of Romantic Baboy? I mean, not literally a huge fat bellied pig but I’m talking about the Romantic Baboy Korean restaurant? This is the restaurant all Korean food lovers would love especially the ones endears Korean unli restaurant, it serves Korean dishes not to mention their unlimited samgyeopsal with cheese for only P499.

The owners are pure Korean Nationals but it’s nice that they incorpated a Filipino touch to the name of their restaurant, it’s catchy and more locals would appreciate.
The name is utterly whimsical, in fact the first time I heard of it I thought it was not a restaurant, it sounded effortlessly named which I thought maybe they purposely made it that way to catch attention. Same with their restaurant logo, there’s this handsome piggy holding a rose in his mouth, that’s hillarious.

While the name and the logo are quirky it wasn’t as fun as I thought when we visited Romantic Baboy, the queue of people waiting outside were enourmous, it’s very similar to applying for new NBI clearance (the old process or worse). We arrived 4 the afternoon and waited for three hours. If there’s one thing I would like them to work on it is certainly the waiting predicament. Of course I won’t mind waiting for three hours for I know it’s worth the wait and I understand the volume of the customers is something they cannot control, but at the very least maybe they can put an area conducive for the comfort of the guests waiting for their turn. Let me tell you what happened, we waited for 3 hrs (at 4pm, it was summer season) can you imagine the scourching heat we had to endure if waited that long infront of their resto together with other Romantic Baboy customers? Since our number was long way from the current queue we opted to stay at its neighboring resto (with ac) we just check our number every ten minutes. I heard they’re extending their branches around the Metro to cater and  accommodate guests in a wider market, pretty sure there’s going to be major change in terms of the customer’s volume from Tomas Morato branch since it’s the first and only store they had when we paid a visit.

After hours of testing our patience we’re finally settled on our seats, that was a perpetual bliss kind of feeling when we finally had our table. The feeling of having this futile process of not getting a seat (as I thought we won’t make it) quickly extinguished. At least they compensated the agony with wide variety of food/meat options for their guests plus the unlimited rice and soup. They served Banchan first, these are dishes they serve before taking your Samgyeop meats.

These are the 8 pork/beef meats:

- HeRb Samgyupsal
- WOo Samgyup
- MOksal
- DAepae Samgyupsal
- YaNgyumGalbi
- RomanTic Bulgogi
- SpIcy Beef
- Curry Beef
My favorite is the Curry Beef

I enjoyed all of them actually, I enjoyed grilling the unlimited serving of meats. I almost forgot to tell that they don’t have limits of stay, most Korean Unli-Samgyeopsal restaurants limit their guest to couple of hours but here in Romantic Baboy it’s thrillling to hear that you can stay all you want until you’re full, this probably one of the reasons why customers wait hours and hours for their turn because the ones taking the buffet overstay (not to mention the after meal talks).

I quite enjoyed my Romantic Baboy experience! It was not a perfect dining experience, needless to say it gain but I have to understand the business stand point, too. It wasn’t their control and probably they were not aware how Filipinos embrace the Korean culture especially the food, that is something they should have known that we Filipinos are huge admirers of anything from Korea. I hope to dine here again SOON! Thanks Romantic Baboy.
