Pepeton's Grill and Catering- Quezon City
I felt lucky to discover another place with great options for food lovers, a surprisingly good restaurant that serves mostly signatured Filipino dishes. Pepeton's Grill and Catering is located in Mother Ignacia Street in Quezon City, if you're part of seventy percent of the Filipinos who still watch tv you probably know where it's located or at least you have the slightest idea where this area is. I work couple of blocks away from Pepeton's, that's one of the reasons why I love working here in QC, it's a gateway to all the food havens.
Our company has this dinner-out routine every weekends, taking an advantage to it I can do food blog without even spending a cent. I get my free dinner and I'll have another blog entry, astute!
At first, I was reluctant of settling out for dinner, seeing Pepenton's from the outside it wasn't as promising as it looks, but as the saying goes we shouldn't judge the book by its cover. Don't get me wrong, it was a quite decent place actually. It's a free dinner-out so I shall not be picky and too demanding, it wasn't my money to spend to begin with. The group decided to settle and so we started checking out the food. As expected, the food were mostly typical Filipino food like Sinigang, Adobo, Crispy Pata, Sisig, etc. We waited for almost 30 minutes before it got served which I think fair enough since my boss ordered a large volume of food, I understand that they couldn't prepare instantaneously.
THE FOOD
I realized my sharpness to first impression is never reliable, if it wasn't for my colleague I likely tried a different restaurant. I was completely blown when they served the Kapalmuks (best seller), I almost drooled when one after another they started putting all the food on the table, I couldn't decide what to try first. Everything was perfect, from the sizzling sisig to binagoongan. Pepeton's Palabok Rice is also a must try, it looks like paella coz it's yellow and has shrimps and eggs on top. And of course their Kapalmuks, at first glance I nearly thought it was crispy pata in the way they cooked it, kapalmuks is a deep fried pork face that Pepeton's boast, you will surely enjoy this the way enjoy the traditional crispy pata, also since it's pork face so the teeth were still there, I'm just not comfortable eating it while seeing the teeth of the pig in pitch black.
