Dapo Restaurant and Bar- Quezon City (very disappointing restaurant)
We do a regular dinner-out around Timog or anywhere near ABS CBN since we work near the area, we almost exhausted all the good restaurants so this time we wanted to try something refreshing to our palate. We got curious of Dapo Restaurant and Bar, we didn’t know what we’re getting into (I say to myself now). The inviting vibe poked our attentions everytime we drive along Scout Tobias, it’s very pleasing from the outside. So instead of Peppeton’s we settled at Dapo.
We ordered quite a large meal, we were more than ten (we usually dine in no less than ten pax) so we knew the order could be a bit difficult to prepare and would really take time considering the volume. We’ve been doing this weekly dinner-out for more than a year now, this made us become more considerate in dealing with restaurant’s staff, and everytime we place orders we always ask the waiting time to set our expectations. The staff guaranteed a 15-20min waiting time for the preparation, though we doubted it, we still took his words for it. 40mins passed and our order were still incomplete. Worse, when we approached the waiter (the one assigned for our table) he answered sarcastically to our surprise, that ignited all our frustrations and anger. When the food arrived we noticed the shrimp was half cooked, the pansit was bland as if they just boiled it in water and instantly served to us, the chicken inasal was to salty as the pansit was tasteless. The food were not pleasing at all. I’m writing this not to influence others not dine-in, I’m writing this because we felt robbed when we paid 6,400 for a banquet of rubbish meals, or maybe if the food is not good at least try to compensate with a good customer service, at the very least. A good customer service could always flip a bad experience to a more condoning feedback, the situation was handled poorly as if they didn't really care for their guests.
And the group’s resentment did not end there, when we got our bill it was 6,800 php! Good thing my boss was keen in checking what went wrong and found that they added couple of drinks we didn’t order (yeah I know, it could be unintentional and sometimes, things like that happen).
The final bill was around 6,400Php (still not synchronized to the food quality and service). Food were very disappointing, staff was poor in dealing with guests and they gave us an overcharged bill (maybe unintentional but it added fuel to our dismay). When I browsed their facebook page reviews, I read a lot of good feedback that disprove our experience. I’m thinking maybe that time was not a good night for Dapo but I certainly won’t go back (I’m not up to take a risk). I hope they would improve the quality of their food and train their staff to be a little more courteous in dealing with guests, it will surely turn a poorly rated experience to an imperfect yet forgivable one. I’ll give this restaurant a 4 out of 10 rating.
PS
I usually include the photos of food, menu list, facebook page, and other information on my blog but I chose not to for Dapo.
