PARES RETIRO- THE FAMOUS PARES HOUSE
If you’re a Pares lover you possibly know this restaurant I’m going to feature. Well, I’m not a big fan of Pares but I crave for it every once in a while so I visited one of the renowned Pares Restaurants in the Philippines, Pares Retiro. Actually it was my first time in Pares Retiro, even my friends haven’t tried here so I didn’t know what to expect at all.
We visited their branch in Tomas Morato just beside Romantic Baboy. The restaurant has this typical interior design, nothing really special to it but it was spacious enough to cater their guests, they even have extension room for bigger number of guests like us.
They served the drinks first and we noticed the tallowy texture of the glasses, it seemed they were not washed well, and of course it mixed on our drinks so we requested for the drinks to be replaced and put it in a paper cup instead. That was ok, I had innumerable experiences like that in the past so it’s not a big deal as long they would let us replace the drinks then we’re good. The waiting time for the food was around 20mins (acceptable considering our number).
I ordered busogsilog, it’s a sinangag meal with tocino strips, pulled pork adobo, longganisa, and atchara. It’s really a superb meal and would suggest this meal if you will visit Pares Retiro hungry, this will satisfy your hunger. Some from our group ordered the Pares best seller, of course if you’ll go to a Pares house it’s more likely that you’ll order pares instead of a silog. I just thought pares won’t be a good fit to my hunger. We also ordered Saba Con Yelo, I liked it but nothing’s special to it, just like the typical Saba con yelo from other restaurants. Their Lomi was also good, I like the savory flavor and the consistency, they cooked it perfectly. The Busog Silog I ordered is a must try too, I didn’t know which to try first, should I try taste the adobo, longganisa or tocino, it’s an overwhelming platter meal. When I finished my plate I thought I will have a food comma (laughs), you know when you couldn’t breathe because of too much food you consumed? Let me tell you that while I’m trying to finish the busogsilog I added lumpiang shanghai (coz I love shanghai) and pares on my plate, I was closed to being gluttony, honestly. Their staff were also nice and very approachable.
